Another try with YouTube

This is a very cute video of a 3D alphabet picture book - not exactly public library material, but interesting.

Libraries on YouTube

I don't think this was the way we were supposed to load our video - but it seems to work which I haven't managed any other way....

This is Julie Andrews on libraries.

Perils of Blogging #4

I love the Book Lovers Wiki from Princeton - great way to find out information and book reviews under various genres. It's good that some of the books reviewed are older titles, not just latest releases.
Also really interested in the level of accuracy reported for the German language wikipedia - I wonder how the English one compares?

Perils of blogging #3

You get really caught up in following one thread or another... I'm been playing with the RSS feeds and have Accidental hedonist as one of them. If you want to see (pictures, recipes and descriptions) of some really interesting food, this is the feed LOL for you.
I unsubscribed from some of the book review sites because they were totally overwhelming - I have trouble getting through the journals let alone the amount of information they churn out.
I can see some potential uses for libraries - customers could subscribe and be updated whenever we had something new going. The probelm, as always, is that someone needs to keep it up to date :)

Perils of blogging # 2

Well, finding time to blog is the next problem - it seems to be either at home or staying late at work...
The other thing is finding time to read and post to other people's blogs.

Perils of blogging #1

OK, so I thought I was multitasking setting up the blog while making chutney. The result? Burnt chutney! Memo to self (and anyone else thinking of trying) - chutneymaking and blogging do not mix!
PS If anyone has some good tips on how to clean burnt chutney from the bottom of the saucepan, I'd be happy to hear them.
PPS I think I got it in time and most of the chutney is edible.

Getting started

Setting up this blog hasn't been as scary as I thought it might be. I'm doing it at home because, as many of you have noted, there isn't time at work.
So, while I'm blogging I'm also making chutney, hence the name...
But there seem to be some parallels anyway.
You take a bunch of ingredients and, using some basic formulas, you create something that is unique. My mango and plum chutney will not be the same as anyone else's, even if we used exactly the same recipe. Considering I didn't use a recipe, I guess it's unlikely to be reproduced even by me.
I hope that this blog will have enough variance, despite the same ingredients, to make it worth writing and reading!
